Forester (Base)
While the basic trim, the standard Forester is not as ill-equipped or basic as the entry-level trims of many competing SUVs. The base Forester shares much of its design, powertrain, and features with other models, setting the tone for the other trims of this series. This standard SUV, like the other Forester trims. Comes with a 2.5-liter SUABRU BOXER® engine, generating 182-horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. The Forester also comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical AWD, which gives it a towing capacity of up to 1,500 lbs., along with EyeSight® Driver-Assistive features such as Pre-Collision Braking and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control.
Other standard features of the entry-level Forester SUV include:

Forester Premium
The Forester Premium is another popular choice among this lineup and gives drivers just the right amount of luxury for less. Most of the standard features of the base Forester continue to this one, while others are upgraded. Fr example, the standard steel wheels of the base Forester are upgraded to 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels which are more lightweight and reduce drag.
Other standard features of the Forester Premium trim include:

Forester Sport
The Forester Sport upgrades the overall performance of this SUV with things like standard steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters complementing the transmission. Most features from the previous trims carry over to this one, while the standard fog lights of the Forester Premium get upgraded with LED bulbs. Some features of the Forester Premium are exclusive to this trim only.
Standard features of the new Forester Sport include:

- A color multifunction display
- Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Forester Wilderness
The Forester Wilderness recently became one of the latest additions to the Forester lineup and is designed to increase the outdoor savviness of this already outdoor-friendly SUV. The Wilderness model features an increased ground clearance, from 8.7 inches to 9.2 inches, allowing you to safely navigate through even the rockiest terrain. This is also the only Forester model to feature a Dual Function X-MODE®, which offers extra functionality with Deep Snow and Mud settings. The Forester Wilderness is the only Forester trim with a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,000 lbs.
Many features of the Subaru Forester Wilderness are exclusive to this trim alone. Standard features include:
- LED hexagonal-style fog lights
- Anti-glare hood
- Raised roof rails with Anodized Copper-Finish accents (800 lb. capacity)
- StarTex® water-repellant upholstery
- Dual-zone automatic climate control

Forester Limited
This trim level's name is a bit of a misnomer in that, rather than being limited, it is actually one of the most fully-loaded trims of this SUV. While it does not include Wilderness upgrades, the Forester Limited is quite luxurious, with a comfortable leather interior greeting you each time you step in it. If you're a lover of all things tech-savvy and convenient, you'll feel right at home in the Forester Limited.
Standard features of the Forester Limited include:
- A power rear gate with automatic close, height, and memory function
- Leather-trimmed upholstery
- Fog lights
- 18-inch machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels
Forester Touring
The Forester Touring is the most well-equipped, luxurious, and tech-savvy version of this midsize Subaru SUV. It includes most features which were previously available on trims like the Forester Limited. Many of the standard features of the Forester Touring are only available on this trim.
